Ghaziabad Man Allegedly Shoots Father Dead Over Property Dispute, Accused Flees With Weapon
A 32-year-old man allegedly shot his father Hariom Chaudhary dead in Ghaziabad’s Modinagar over a property dispute. The accused Nikhil allegedly fired multiple rounds, fled with the weapon, and is being pursued by four police teams. The victim owned assets estimated at Rs 150 crore and had previously faced family disputes.
According to police officials, the accused was under the influence of alcohol when the incident took place. The argument reportedly began over the division and transfer of family property, following which Nikhil allegedly opened fire at his father.
The deceased, 52-year-old Hariom Chaudhary, was a resident of Budana village under the jurisdiction of Modinagar Police Station. He was considered one of the affluent farmers in the region.
Police said Hariom Chaudhary owned 75 bighas of agricultural land in Modinagar and also possessed a market located on Delhi-Meerut Road. His total assets were estimated to be worth around Rs 150 crore.
Hariom Chaudhary is survived by his wife Anita and younger son Neeshu.
ACP Modinagar Bhaskar Verma said Nikhil was addicted to alcohol and his father frequently reprimanded him over his drinking habit. Police stated that Hariom had already provided Nikhil with shops in the market and 25 bighas of land. However, Nikhil allegedly wanted the remaining property to also be transferred in his name.
According to police, Hariom refused to transfer the remaining land, telling his elder son that he would waste the property on alcohol and other personal expenses.
Police said Hariom had dinner with his wife and younger son on Wednesday night. Later, Nikhil returned home in an intoxicated condition. An argument broke out after Hariom scolded him for drinking.
During the confrontation, Nikhil allegedly took out a pistol and fired at his father. One bullet struck Hariom’s face, causing him to collapse. The accused allegedly fired additional shots targeting his face, chest and abdomen.
Police said there were four to six bullet marks on Hariom Chaudhary’s body.
During the investigation, police also found that Nikhil had allegedly been involved in previous violent incidents related to disputes with his family. Officials said he frequently fought with his parents over his drinking habit. In 2018, he had allegedly fired at his younger brother Neeshu following an argument. Police are now examining that case as part of the ongoing investigation.
The incident has raised serious concerns over a violent family dispute allegedly triggered by property-related tensions. Police teams are continuing efforts to trace and arrest Nikhil, who remains absconding with the firearm used in the crime.
